NEW PHOTO PROJECT IS UNDERWAY...I'm shooting a visual story, exploring KFJC during their 50th anniversary. I've been listening to the radio station for years, familiar with the abundance of personality unique to each and every DJ, and their diverse, independent programming which has turned me on to music I never would have found if it wasn't for "YOUR SOURCE FOR SOUND-YOUR SOURCE FOR THE DISTORTION OF THE SENSES-THE WAVE OF THE WEST-YOUR FINE 89 KFJC"...A few favorite DJs are "Art Crimes", "Sci-Thoth", "Dominic Trix", "CindeROARa", "Morris Minor" and "What is Grawer?!"
The project began last weekend, shooting a Behind-the-Scenes look at the PSYCHOTRONIX FILM Festival, screening only 16mm films, the VINYL OF VISUALS, an archaic medium that brings wondrous images of a near forgotten time -- Antiquated commercials, neglected cartoons, previews from old movies, various short subjects which may have been intentionally educational then, that are now just unintentionally funny.
The following morning, the project continued shooting the KFJC Live Broadcast from the Vintage VW Club of America Spring Meet in San Jose.
Next on the agenda is a live performance broadcasted from the "Devil's Triangle" in the pit of the radio station's studio, the Listener Appreciation Party at a Bowling Alley, featuring free food, bowling, current live DJs and Alumni, live bands, and the most anticipated MONTH OF MAYHEM where the KFJC DJs have a totally free format and freak out with all of their favorite music. They feature specials on air like "Doing it to Death"-playing 24hrs of James Brown and live music co-presents like "How to Destroy the Universe Part 6" supporting an array of acts playing at various venues in San Francisco and Oakland.
...STAY TUNED
